FlightLights LED Map Light Adaptor For
Grumman AA5-A & B Series Aircraft

|
The FlightLights LED Map Light adaptor replaces the existing gooseneck map light & housing on late AA5 Series Grumman Aircraft with a 4 LED assembly
potted in a black or silver aluminum housing.
Installation is very simple - just unscrew the existing map light housing & incandescent bulb and screw the adaptor into the existing bulb
socket. Absolutely
no modifications to the airframe or existing wiring are necessary.
Innovative Features Include
State of the art LED solid state lighting in
red, green, blue or white
Illuminates entire instrument panel with bright, clean, wide and
even light. No halos, gaps or weak spots. Makes reading instruments,
maps and other printed material a joy.
Very long life cycle. LEDs, when used correctly, have an
approximate life span of 100,000 hours - about 11 years of
continuous use
Considerably brighter than the original Grumman map light with significantly less power consumption
Much lighter than original unit
Vibration proof design. Aircraft vibration will not be a factor.

In the photo below, the blue light you see on the
right is from the overhead Steelebrook Easy Light with a blue LED
head. This light would normally be the same color as the Map Light but
we wanted to show the contrast.

Light and a red LED head in the Easy Light.

A Few Words on
FAA Approval
|
We consider
the FlightLight map Light adaptor a major improvement in Grumman
cockpit and cabin lighting. Intrinsic safety and easy
installation with no modifications to the airframe or existing
wiring make the
Map Light a excellent lighting solution for your AA5 series
aircraft.
But even
minor modifications to certified aircraft may need some type of
FAA approval to be legally used in the aircraft.
If you install the Map Light Adaptor in your aircraft, you may
need at least a FAA field approval to be completely legal and
airworthy. The FAA people we have talked with consider the
installation of this unit a minor add-on that would be a
"non-issue" to most inspectors and at most, easily
approved using the field approval process. (337 form).
Many consider it nothing more than
a light bulb replacement.
